ABOUT | PEOPLE
Catrin Lewis BA (Hons) graduated from Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance in July 2013 having worked with choreographers such as Kerry Nicholls, Charlotte Darbyshire, Gary Lambert, Henrietta Hale, Lea Anderson and Fred Gehrig. She originally began dancing in South Wales as a member of The Move, Blaenau Gwent Youth Dance Company and the National Dance Company Wales Associates. Before training at Trinity Laban, Catrin studied at the Scottish School of Contemporary Dance where she explored the depths and possibilities of her choreographic nature.
Catrin performed for Wales-based Ffin Dance during the 2012 Connections tour, being selected by Gary Lambert to perform in Synapsequence as a result of a student work placement with the company. Catrin has now completed several full seasons as a company dancer with Ffin Dance, as well as directing two pieces of her own choreography and taking a lead role in the Decisive Moments dance and photography project, collaborating with Ann Sholem and Roy Campbell-Moore. Catrin also has a keen interest in dance for film, collaborating in 2014 with Aoise Tutty and music label Autonomy and later creating a new work d-cay for Ffin Dance, collaborating with London-based Re:Act Arts, exploring the movement possibilities surrounding the tragic events of the Omaha Beach landing in WWII.
Catrin joined Traceworks Dance in September 2015 and is also a guest teacher for B40 Youth Dance Company.
