Julian Lewis is artistic co-director of Traceworks Dance, a dance artist, choreographer and teacher. He graduated from Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance in 2013 with a first-class honours degree. His performing career then began as a member of EDGE, the postgraduate dance company of London Contemporary Dance School, performing in several works by renowned choreographers across the UK, Italy, Portugal, Austria and Israel. Julian returned to London Contemporary Dance School in 2019 to complete his masters degree, fulfilling the role of rehearsal director on Celebration Event - a project commemorating Merce Cunningham's Centennial staged by Jeannie Steele, performed by final-year undergraduates.
Julian currently performs & leads community projects for Wales-based Ffin Dance, as well as touring the UK & Europe as a dancer for The Bowie Collective. Julian has previously performed for Cascade Dance Theatre, Pinot! The Musical, Ruth Jones & Eve Harrison as well as many other projects at the Royal Opera House, Royal Albert Hall for BBC Proms, London 2012 Olympic Closing Ceremony, Southbank Centre, Hackney Empire, The Old Vic Tunnels and The Place.
As a dance teacher, Julian works regularly for The Place, Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance, Springs Dance Company and is artistic director of B40 Youth Dance Company for Greenwich Leisure Limited.
