On 17 March 2020, following advice from the government, Traceworks Dance cancelled all public-facing activities and studio-based classes due to the impact of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
All class payments that were made in advance of our closure have now been discussed and organised with all of our existing customers who were affected by this cancellation.
During the national lockdown in April, we introduced weekly dance classes online for our existing young students, as well as a new programme of online dance classes for adults with great success. At the start of the new academic year, it proved unviable for us to re-open our dance classes in a studio setting due to the ongoing restrictions and uncertainty surrounding COVID-19. We therefore made the decision to expand our programme of online dance classes (including more options for customers to access them).
We are continuing to closely follow government advice and we hope to soon re-open our studio-based classes as long as a) the government permits indoor dance classes to operate, and b) we are confident that all the necessary safety measures are in place to do so. We are also reviewing our existing programme of online dance classes, and are exploring our options to continue offering classes in this platform for those who cannot attend studio-based classes and have continued to thrive, or found a new love of dance from interacting with us in this way.
We are also working creatively to explore new and innovative ways for our professional company to continue creating, performing and providing high quality arts services to the wider community amidst the current challenges we are all facing.
We hope that we can resume more of our activities as soon as we can and we will be working alongside our partners to organise this. Please continue to check our website for updates.
B40 Youth Dance Company is managed by Greenwich Leisure Limited and based at The Plumstead Centre. At this moment (30/10/2020), the company is planning to re-open (with COVID secure measures in place) at The Plumstead Centre on Tuesday 3 November. For more information, click here.
Finally, we'd like to thank each and every one of our team members, collaborators, partners and most importantly our students and audiences for all of your support throughout this period.
